In preparing for next week, I opened up a piece of mail. To add to a wonderful week at BRES already, I hold in my hands a card from Our First Lady, Michelle Obama! (Ok, I set the card down so I can type this blog entry!) The card is a thank you note congratulating Banks Road Elementary for achieving the Silver Award in the Healthier US Schools Challenge. Let me share a few lines from the card:
"As a winner of the Silver Award, your school is among the very best of the best, going above and beyond the minimum requirements to help ensure your students live full and active lives. This is an extraordinary accomplishment, and you should all be incredibly proud of what you have achieved."
The Healthier US Schools Challenge is the cornerstone of the Let's Move campaign. It is an ambitious initiative to solve the childhood obesity epidemic within a generation.
