School Messenger April 21, 2014

Good evening Trailblazers,

Happy Monday to you! This is Mrs. Graf with several announcements:
First things first, our new carpool procedures are in place. Please continue to be patient with us. What is working is that we now have all cars off of Banks Road. We will continue to call 5 cones for loading. Please support us by asking your child to listen for their number to be called and immediately report to their cone. Remember that sign outs are not permitted after 3 p.m. For morning carpool, if you are walking your child inside, please park in the left hand parking lot at the front of the school. Track 4 Trailblazers, please pay close attention when you return on Wednesday. If you have questions, please call the school.

Tomorrow night is our PTA Spirit Night! Come on out to Jersey Mikes anytime from 4-8 and eat in or get dinner to go. I will be there around 5:30 and would love to see you. Remember that our PTA receives 20% of the purchases tomorrow night and every Tuesday in the month of April.
Speaking of our PTA, we need Trailblazers to step up and into roles on our PTA next year. The nomination process is open and we have several positions available. Our PTA provides support to the school in many ways including: the purchasing and installation of Smartboards in classrooms, movies nights, Family Fitness Night, teacher stipends, and beautification of our campus to mention a few. We need parents to continue this great work. If you are interested please email our PTA at Banksrdpta@gmail.com.

Thursday night is our General PTA Meeting and our Family Bingo Night. Last year we had a great time with our first Family Bingo Night and we are doing it again! Bring dinner and come on out and play some bingo with your children. We will have Ms. Daniel’s back leading our Bingo games! We will meet in the multipurpose room at 6:00 p.m. This is a free event, there will be prizes and a 50/50 raffle! The bingo games will immediately follow our General PTA Meeting.

And lastly, we have Saturday school on the 26th. Track 1 will have Field Day so please pay close attention to the information that was sent home in Friday folders from Ms. Williford.

That’s it Trailblazers! This information will be posted to the BRES website and will go out on the Principal’s Desk Blog. Please call the school if you have any questions.

Good Evening Trailblazers,

This is Mrs. Graf with several announcements:

First things first, carpool changes will be happening this week! In an effort to reduce the traffic out on Banks Road we will begin double carpool lanes on Wednesday. You may have noticed new markings in our drive way on Monday, specifically outlining the bus lanes and the carpool lane. The new marking will specifically show where the carpool changes from a single lane to a double lane. The double lane will allow for additional vehicles to line up for carpool and move towards the student loading zone. Additional markings and signage will indicate where vehicles should stop and remain stopped until directed to the loading zone by a school staff member. Our first priority is student safety in carpool and local law enforcement and WCPSS Facilities staff members will be assisting us in making this transition as well. I will be sending out specific information regarding these upcoming changes to all carpool parents tomorrow in carpool.

Here is an update on the Fun Run. We have already collected over $10,000! All funds are due by May 2nd and we may very well reach our school goal of $15,000. These funds will go towards purchasing new technology for our students!

BRES is looking for a few great parents to fill the roles needed to maintain and support our wonderful PTA. If you are interested in supporting BRES by becoming a PTA Officer, please contact the nominating committee (Brandi Gozy, Beth Ryals, and Rebecca Campbell) at banksrdpta@gmail.com.

Don’t forget Picture Day for Track 3 is tomorrow, April 8th. Wear your favorite outfit and bring your best smile! Tomorrow is also School Spirit Night at Jersey Mikes at McCullers Crossing and Ten Ten. Don’t cook tomorrow night, instead come out and eat at Jersey Mike’s or place an order to go. Our school gets 20% back to make purchases that directly support our students. I’ll be there with my family and I hope to see you!

Case Benchmark assessment scores are in. Your teachers have the scores and should have shared this information with you.

And last but not least, our Beautification Day on Saturday was wonderful! By 10:30 a.m. we had a great turnout of students, families and support in sprucing up our campus. Thanks to the families that attended, brought heavy duty equipment, wheelbarrows and muscle to spread the mulch and clean up the front of our campus. You guys are the best!

That’s it Trailblazers! This information will be posted to the BRES website and will go out on the Principal’s Desk Blog. Please call the school if you have any questions.

The Fun Run was amazing yesterday.  We had a great turn out of parents, grandparents and family friends.  Students felt supported and walked or ran the entire time.  Don't forget that for every $10 collected by April 15, that student's name will be put in the drawing for a $75 gift certificate from Feet Fleet.  ALL Money is due by May 2nd.  At last count, we have raised almost $10,000 for new technology for BRES students! Amazing Trailblazers!  A big thank you goes out to our PTA and all of the volunteers for their support in making our Fun Run a wonderful experience for our students.
